BOOK REVIEW: Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Title: Under the Never Sky
Series: Under the Never Sky, #1
Author: Veronica Rossi
Format: Kindle Ebook
Release Date: January 3, 2012
Publisher: HarperCollins

"Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky."

This book....so good. I don't know why I waited so long to read it. I bought it forever ago on my kindle and just never picked it up, but i finally did and it was just exceptional! I loved it so much. Under the Never Sky is a dystopian novel, but it is very original. Dystopias are the new thing, and as Ive said before its hard to find a different, original dystopia. Veronica Rossi did it though. I just cant say enough good things about this book.

The way the story  is set up slightly reminds me of Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Now hear me out! I know those of you that have read both books are wondering where I'm going with this and are thinking that I'm crazy. The reason I find them similar is because the story really takes dominance over the first part of the book and romance doesn't set in until the end-ish. I could just be crazy in my thinking but if you've read both books you may know what I'm talking about.

I love the characters. The story alternates points-of-view between the two main characters, Aria and Perry. What I love about this is that it really gives you a sense of the characters and the different worlds they come from. Aria has lived in a  highly-advanced, sheltered bubble her whole life and then she gets thrust into Perry's world, which is all very primitive and even slightly medieval. You really learn a lot about these two very different people and feel their emotions since you're in their heads.

The love story in Under the Never Sky...I love it. For one, its not insta-love (HALLELUJAH) and two, it makes you feel all the feels. Rossi had me grinning like a fool the entire time. As soon as I finished Under the Never Sky I immediately bought and downloaded the second book in the series, Through the Ever Night. I can already tell that Under the Never Sky is going to be one of my favorite books of 2013, so if you haven't read it already then go get it!

A Blog Update

Hey guys! Long time, no speak I know. It has been an extremely long time since I last blogged. Basically what happened was that I was in a reading slump and just needed a short break from blogging. Well that short break slowly turned into just stopping completely. Now I'm ready to come back! There is going to be a few changes though. Before I had a set schedule for reviews, memes, etc. now my blog is going to be a bit more sporadic and the content is actually going to change a lot. Instead of being solely a YA book blog, The Young Adventuress is going to turn into more of a life blog. Ill be posting all kinds of stuff! There is still going to be a lot (and I mean a lot) of book-related posts but there is also going to be TV, movie, beauty, and maybe even a few project posts. I hope this little change doesn't disappoint you guys but I'm excited to start blogging again!
