In the sleepy English countryside of decades past, there is a town that has stood on a jut of granite for six hundred years. And immediately to the east stands a high stone wall, for which the village is named. Here in the town of Wall, Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. One crisp October night, as they watch, a star falls from the sky, and Victoria promises to marry Tristran if he'll retrieve that star and bring it back for her. It is this promise that sends Tristran through the only gap in the wall, across the meadow, and into the most unforgettable adventure of his life.In the sleepy English countryside of decades past, there is a town that has stood on a jut of granite for six hundred years. Stardust is a very original story with a wonderful plot. My friend told me to read this and I am so glad he recommended it to me. I got so sucked into the story right away and without his recommendation I probably would have never read Stardust. The basics of the story is that a boy falls in love with a snobbish girl and the only way she will marry him is if he brings her back the star that they had seen fall from the sky. When he goes to retrieve the star, he expects to find a rock but instead finds a young woman. The story is very fast paced and just a really fun fairytale, that is super original.

I really liked the characters in Stardust. Tristan starts out as a young boy but really grows up as the story goes on. He is a very polite boy. My favorite character had to be Yvaine, the star. She is super feisty but naive. I love how feisty she is. There are so many different characters in Stardust because there are multiple story lines going on at once. You have witches fighting to stay young, brothers killing each other to become lords, and then you have the adventures of Tristan.

Stardust is a fairytale that is more adult than most but it is so good. I cant recommend it enough, definitely go out and read it!
